Clean as ?

Had to buy some soap the other day so we could have it in the shower. I remember buying soap was simply getting a bar of Dial or Palmolive and that was easy. Now I find that soap comes in bottles filled with things that don’t even resemble soap. 

One I looked at was Coconut Cream Butter Shower Wash. Not even called soap anymore, and then for the rest of the day I would have smelled like a coconut daiquiri.
 Another was Wild Rose Garden with Honey. I had visions of being attacked by bees if I used that. Finally settled on one that said Natural Vanilla. Decided that it was probably the safest and most bland I could find.

Wonder was ever happened to 20 Mule Team Borax.? Don’t think it left me smelling like a mule. Just Say’n.

Insured risk

Talking to an insurance person the other day about all the claims they had after the big hurricane. Any loss is difficult to face but some people really have unique ways to file claims. 
I spotted this picture and wondered if the driver reported they were simply following the sign that said “Drive Thru”. 

The insurance person I was talking with shared some of these incidents:

• A report on a car accident stated, “I had one eye on the parked car, another on an approaching truck, and another on the woman behind.” Hey, it was a three eyed driver.
• Another incident reported was, “I started to slow down but the traffic was moving more slowly than I thought.” You have to watch out for that traffic that is just not going as fast as you want them.
• Last one is aparently repeated often in accident files, "An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my vehicle, and disappeared.” See there are alien attacks from outer space.

I guess in any job, there are some funny moments that make the day easier. Just Say'n

Heavenly thoughts for writers

A lot of communities are now known as “Gated Communities” which simply means nobody gets in unless they’re invited. As I entered one of these communities, I suddenly realized according to general religious consensus, Heaven is a "Gated Community". The Pearly Gates keep out unwanted visitors and protect the residents from bad people. I guess St. Peter is supposed to be the “cop at the gate”. Hmmm, for what’s supposed to be a friendly place to live, it doesn’t sound so good from that perspective.
Anyhow, the reason I got into thinking about heaven was a joke a writer friend told me. Goes like this:


A writer died and was given the option of going to heaven or hell.
She decided to check out each place first. As the writer descended into the fiery pits, she saw row upon row of writers chained to their desks in a steaming sweatshop. As they worked, they were repeatedly whipped with thorny lashes.
"Oh my," said the writer. "Let me see heaven now."
A few moments later, as she ascended into heaven, she saw rows of writers, chained to their desks in a steaming sweatshop. As they worked, they, too, were whipped with thorny lashes.
"Wait a minute," said the writer. "This is just as bad as hell!"
"Oh no, it's not," replied an unseen voice. "Here, your work gets published.”


Sad but true.

LIFE GUIDELINE

Share the thought

People sometimes ask me to share my thoughts on things. I’am not big on doing this as I’m basically a private person. However, about three years ago I wrote a book called I AM ADAM, in which I shared my thoughts, in a fictional way, about what may have happened in the Garden of Eden.

Book did well overseas, developed a good following but not so much in the USA. So, having lost partial sanity, I AM ADAM is now being given away free along with a study guide where I SHARE MY THOUGHTS about the story of ADAM and EVE (who were both know as Adam in the bible). 

I am sure my thoughts will open a can of worms in many ways, but what the heck - they are only my thoughts. All the FREE stuff is found by CLICKING HERE.

Just do it

Had an opportunity to try something different the other day. I was excited about it, then I thought about it for a while, started to be concerned about what may happen, and finally decided not to do it. I wish I would stop thinking so much and just do things.


How many great moments have I missed by thinking things through and then backing away. Oh I know, we need to process things so we dont make mistakes because mistakes may be painful. But I wonder if missing some things in life is even more painful.

I fell off my bike several times when I first started, but I stayed with it. I swallowed a lot of water when I learned to swim, but I stayed with it. I messed up a lot of things in life, but somehow I am still here. Risk is the price of success I guess.


I am going to stop thinking about things so much and just go out and see what happens. If it doesn't work, at least it will be fun trying.

Deaf and dumber

The cell phone is often confused with the contraption we used to make with tin cans and string. If you tied the string to the bottom of the cans, pulled it tight, and hollered loud enough, you could hear each other in the can.
It seems some people, especially those in crowed places, believe they need to holler loud into their cell phone like it was a tin can phone, so the other person can hear them. I ride the Long Island Rail Road to Manhattan and it is a guarantee someone will decide to have a phone conversation they desire to share with everyone on the train. The railroad makes announcements to please not use the cellphone to annoy others, but those who are annoying others are talking so loud they can’t hear the annoucement.
The best cell phone screamer happened yesterday when I was parking the car. This man was standing next to a building with a cellphone on his ear screaming “HELLO” over and over. I found a parking place, parked the car, got out, and walked toward my destination, all of which took about five minutes. As I approached the building, this man was still standing there shouting “HELLO” over and over and over. Seems to me he could figure out the person he was talking to wasn’t there anymore. Or maybe they were and they wanted to find out how long this lunitic would say “HELLO”. Just Say’n.

Evolving

I was listening to a couple people debate about evolution the other day. One said God made everything at once, the other said it all evolved. When asked my opinion I said I agree.
 Obviously, this didn’t make either one of them happy, so I had to explain my opinion. Even after I explained my opinion, neither one was happy, but that’s what happens when we express opinions; somebody will disagree and somebody will agree, depending on their opinion. 
When we think our opinions are the only answer, then we’re in serious trouble. Ask the people who had an opinion that the world was flat; think they had some problems after a while.
Anyhow, I think that everything started from something and how that all happened is beyond my understanding ( or anyone else for that matter), so I believe something larger than my understanding was behind this start of everything.
Then after it started, it just continued to grow and become what we know today. My opinion is that the power who started all this knew what was going on and how it would all work out. Thus we keep evolving until we reach the same conclusion as the power who started all this. I think of this power as God and I believe this power had good intentions, thus everything will work toward a good conclusion.
It’s my opinion; at least today it is, but I may evolve into a different opinion tomorrow. That’s the beauty of life. Just Say’n

Religion

I saw this the other day and it speaks exactly how I feel. I spent a lot of time in “Religious Activities”
over the years and they almost destroyed my belief in God. Religion is really the cause of so much harm in the world yet somehow it continues to thrive. 

On the other hand, a spiritual journey is important in life if we are to have any sense of security. I know many people have no spiritual focus and that’s their decision and I respect it. However, when I look at the beauty of the world, the magnificence of the universe, the miracle of life itself, then I find I need a spiritual connection. 

So as we enter into this new year, I celebrate the wonders of the universe and give thanks that my journey has a sense of purpose and meaning. I may not fit into some peoples religious ideals and because of that, I am very happy. Just Say'n

My new book is out

Another year passes and another book comes forth. It is a time of mixed emotions as I’m excited to bring the new story out into the world. On the other hand, it is a time of mild anxiety as I expose my characters to the often harsh light of reality. After spending a year with a story, it becomes part of your life as an evolution of plot and characters slowly begins to become something real. Ernest Hemingway said that writhing a story is simple, you just sit down at a typewriter and bleed until it is finished.

Public opinion is a reality that some people will like the book and some will not, which is why we don’t write for public approval, we write because we can’t stop.

This time the plot is about a very unique psychiatrist who captures the mind of very wealthy clients, convinces them to give her a large portion of their money and then guides them into suicide. Her name is Dr. Stephanie Walker and yes, creating her did keep me awake several nights. She is scary.

Words without meaning

Listening to conversations, I am fascinated with the development of our language. I hear a new word being used which is "texted". In reality, text is a noun. Trying to make it a verb is an interesting experiment, but the reality is "I did text him" is correct whereas, "I texted him" isn't. Nevertheless, "texted" seems to be growing in popularity even if it isn't correct.

Another one that is different is the word "conversate". There is no word "conversate" in the dictionary, but as much as I hear it being used, it will probably be there in a few years.

The word "prioritize" didn't exist until the political campaign of 1979, and now it is part of life. So I guess I need to prioritize my texted information so I can conversate properly. No wonder the Brittish say we dont speak English, we speak American. Just say'n

Bucket List

I have a few items on my bucket list and last week I scratched one off. My wife and I went to Las Vegas to spend a few days before heading to Desert Springs. 

If you’ve never been to Vegas, you have to try it out. We aren’t gamblers so I ended up only winning $15 but we did see David Copperfield do his magic and attended a true Vegas show with dancers, jugglers, more dancers, gymnast, more dancers, etc.

It’s a world you can’t describe with a rebuilt city of New York, a copy of Paris, a full MGM studio, and a thousand other sites that literally overwhelm your senses. 
Then a few miles out of the city you are in the desert with miles of nothing surrounded by beautiful mountains. If I didn't love the ocean so much, it would be a great area to spend more time. 

One more item off the bucket list traveling with my favorite person in the world. Life is good - Just Say'n
